What We Believe

What Makes Us Lutheran Christians?

We are evangelical -- the center of our faith is that God is gracious, and unconditionally loves us. We believe that we have come to know God most fully in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our response is to live lives of faith, love, and obedience to God's will.

We are sacramental -- we believe that God's promises come to us in many ways, but that the Word of God and the sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion, are special means whereby God offers us the gifts of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

We are a part of the Church catholic -- we are linked to the Church that is the body of Christ in time and space, the Church that confesses Jesus as Lord. We use forms in our worship that we have inherited from past centuries, but we are "reforming" in our use of forms and music that speak to us the gospel of Jesus Christ in fresh ways.
