* Ruckpositive Præstant 8' is obtained by using octave transmission of the Præstant 4' and the bass octave of the Gedackt 8'. The 8' & 4' Præstant stopknobs are interlocked to prevent simultaneous playing with both modes.

Metal flue pipes of finest lead/tin alloys, hammered and voiced for vocale sound.
Mouths of façade pipes gilded in 23 carat gold.

Mild temperament suited to music of all periods: Vths above Bb, C, G, D, A and B are 1/6 th PC narrow; rest pure.

Case of fumed Appalachian white oak and Western red-cedar in modern Scandanavian style, and is similar to the historic North European 17th century organs with free standing Pedal towers at sides of Ruckpositive and at its level in a gallery behind and above the main stage. Ruckpositive has very low, compact profile so organist may be seen from and see to main stage below. The pipe shades are executed in solid black walnut. The bellows and blower are in room below stage.

Organ was dedicated in a series of events in April 1987 featuring recitalists Lynn Ziegler-Dickson, David Boe, Martha Folts, David Dahl, Peter Williams, the University brass and choral ensembles, numerous guests for panel discussions and compositions by faculty artists for the occasion. The organ has 34 registers, 50 ranks, with 2326 pipes.
